On June 6, the China Building Materials Federation organized the meeting of the "Committee for Promoting Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality in the Building Materials Industry" (hereinafter referred to as the "Building Materials Carbon Committee"). Participating representatives had extensive discussions on capacity substitution in the cement and flat glass industries, staggered production policies in the cement industry, and the establishment of a carbon market for the cement industry.

Yan Xiaofeng, the President of the China Building Materials Federation, pointed out the urgent issue of severe overcapacity in industries such as cement and glass. He emphasized the need to comprehensively consider the relationship between the industry's short-term and long-term development, overall and regional considerations, and the balance between development and stability. Based on legal requirements and regulations, he emphasized the importance of strengthening the connection between industrial policies and legal regulations related to carbon emissions, energy efficiency, environmental protection, safety, and quality. This aims to promote optimization and adjustment of the industrial structure, achieve both immediate and fundamental improvements, ensure an orderly and rational market, and encourage legal and compliant behavior that supports sustainable and high-quality industry development.
