To facilitate the development of the cement industry's carbon market and the allocation of carbon emission quotas, entrusted by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment's Department of Climate Change, China Building Materials Federation organized the "Seminar on Research of Quota Allocation for Carbon Market Construction in the Cement Industry” on May 30th. Attendees included Liu Jianhua, Vice President of CBMF, and Wu Qingtao, Special Vice President CBMF and General Manager of Beijing Guojian Lianxin Certification Center. Representatives from more than 20 cement enterprises, including China National Building Materials Group, Conch Cement Group, BBMG, China Resources Cement, Hongshi Cement, and Huaxin Cement, participated in the conference. The meeting was chaired by Shi Hongwei, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Building Materials Federation and Director of Science & Technology Development Department.
The meeting introduced the relevant work carried out by CBMF in recent years regarding the construction of the cement industry's carbon market, and emphasized the basic requirements of promoting industry structural adjustment, sustainable development, and high-quality development through the carbon market construction. Attendees discussed specific aspects and parameters, such as carbon emission quota allocation, benchmark levels, accounting, and verification, and provided relevant opinions and suggestions, and the meeting reached basic consensus. In the next phase, the China Building Materials Federation will continue to organize the "Cement Industry Carbon Market Construction Working Group" to conduct in-depth research on the relevant issues and suggestions, and actively seek opinions from relevant enterprises.
